Lower Assam gain 3 points against Barak Valley

GUWAHATI, July 10 – Lower Assam Zone gained three points with 22-run first innings lead against Barak Valley in their league match of the U-19 Inter Zonal Cricket Tournament at the Nehru Stadium here today. The match ended in a draw.

On the last day of the two-day match, the Barak Valley boys were all out for 55 in their first innings in reply to Lower’s 77 and conceded a lead of 22 runs.

In the second innings, Lower were all out for 100, showing some poor batting form. However, Barak Valley were again in trouble as they were struggling at 45 for eight when stumps were finally drawn.

In this match, both the teams miserably failed to read the track as well as the opponent bowlers as only six batsmen could reach double figures and the highest score was 36 from Lower’s Maina Raja in the second innings.

Brief scores: Lower 77 and 100 (Maina Raja 36, Raju Das 5/16, Bishal Tiwary 2/18). Barak Valley 55 (Parag Barman 3/6, Munna Aziz 3/16, Paritosh Nath 3/17) and 45/8 (Ratul Roy 2/5, Paritosh Nath 2/11). SOURCE: ASSAM TRIBUNE
