GUWAHATI, July 7: Senior Mizoram minister and Mizo National Front general secretary F Malsawma lauded the General Budget tabled by Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee in Parliament yesterday. He, however, said the NEC Budget remained the same as that of last year with no alterations made in it. He said this year too, the budgetary allocation for the NEC has been put at Rs 544.50 crore. There is no enhancement on the NEC head in the Budget, he said.
Malsawma further said even in allocation for DoNER, there is no substantial increase, and allocation is Rs 1,455 crore. The Budget is silent on the development of bamboo sector that has high potential in the hills in the Northeast. This apart, no meaningful sops for private parties in the small-scale industries and the horticulture is given in Budget, he added. SOURCE: THE SENTINEL
