MLAs’ charges against urban ministry refuted

HAILAKANDI, July 8 – All Assam Municipal Chairman Association has strongly protested the allegations of 25 MLAs of the state regarding the poor functioning of Urban Development Ministry.

The general secretary of the association, Debarshi Bhattacharjee told The Assam Tribune that the allegations of the MLAs are not justified and said that the allegations were raised intentionally in order to malign Urban Development Minister Dinesh Prasad Goala.

He said that Urban Development department is the most successful department of the state as it has accomplished many urban development schemes in the town areas and the urban dwellers have benefited a lot after the implementation of these schemes. It has done tremendous job during the last one year, he added.

Bhattacharjee said that there is no need for raising question mark on the activities of Urban Development Ministry. He informed that the association also held a meeting on the issue and strongly protested the demands raised by the MLAs to reshuffle the present State Cabinet assessing the performance of some of the departments. The association also urged the Chief Minister of Assam not to take the issue seriously, he informed. SOURCE: THE SENTINEL
